The breakup of the Pakatan Harapan did not come from the resignation of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
It came from the pullout of the Bersatu, without the knowledge of the PM, from the PH.
This is confirmed by a source who says to WFTV Muhyiddin Yassin is the ‘Punca’ of the breakup.
For foreign readers, ‘Punca’ means the cause of the breakup.
Asked what did they think of the sudden pullout of the Bersatu from the ruling coalition, they say it is ‘saddening’.
One source says when Anwar Ibrahim offered Muhyiddin Yassin the deputy PM post when he takes over as PM, he was silent.
“When Anwar offered him to be his Deputy, he kept quiet. But outside, he told someone else, ‘I have been DPM before, what is the big deal!'”
Muhyiddin was deputy PM in the Najib Razak government until his firing in 2015.
In August 2016, he joins the Bersatu a party created by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Muhyiddin became the party’s president while Mahathir and his son Mukhriz became the chairman and deputy president respectively.
Bersatu joined the Pakatan Harapan with the PKR, DAP and Amanah. It became a formidable formation that toppled the Barisan Nasional from power in 2018.
After Dr Mahathir’s resignation on Monday, Muhyiddin hurriedly announced the pullout of the Bersatu from the PH.
While this was unexpected, it makes life difficult for both Mahathir and Anwar. It is a clear betrayal of the 2018 deal by Mahathir with the PKR and PH.
The deal is to hand over power to Anwar Ibrahim after Mahathir quits. With Bersatu’s pullout, the deal is broken. Bersatu is the party that broke the deal.
It paints Mahathir in a bad light in the eyes of analysts and the public in general. The people believe it is Mahathir who got Bersatu to quit the coalition.
In fact, it is Muhyiddin who is responsible for the pullout.
Based on the quote above, it seems the Bersatu chief is in cahoot with the cartel from the PKR to overthrow the PH.
A STEADY RISE
Muhyiddin has had a steady rise in politics. Yassin conquered the higher ranks in the Umno and the BN over the years.
He is not a man of major controversies. He is credited for exposing Najib Razak in the 1MDB scandal. But some Malaysians are still not happy with him for saying he is Malay first then Malaysian.
Perhaps the prospects of remaining a DPM got him to believe joining Azmin Ali and gang will give him a bigger post.
Now that the blurry situation is clearing up and it appears the PH will remain in power, some from Bersatu are rethinking their roles.
With Mahathir losing support from UMNO and PAS, the Bersatu has also lost its bid to rule with the Azmin gang.
“Anwar is leading the chase. There is no doubt about it. Thus some from the Umno and Bersatu are sending messages to join Anwar,” says the source.
Nevertheless, the brutal act by Muhyiddin to pull the Bersatu out of the PH will have a boomerang effect.
It means he is out of the race and might not be a minister in the next cabinet of Dr Mahathir.
This will be a steep downfall of the man who rose steadily and made the right choice in supporting the PH in 2018.
